Regenerative Prolotherapy

Educational Information

Prolotherapy injections, also known as regenerative injection therapy, is a non-surgical treatment option for conditions that cause chronic pain in the foot and ankle. The goal of prolotherapy is to stimulate the body's natural healing process by injecting a solution into the affected area. The solution used in prolotherapy typically consists of a mixture of dextrose (a sugar solution), anesthetic, and sometimes other ingredients. The injections are given directly into the affected area, causing an inflammatory response which triggers the growth of new connective tissue. This new tissue helps to support and strengthen the area, reducing pain and promoting healing.

The benefits of prolotherapy injections in the foot and ankle include improved stability, reduced pain, increased mobility, and decreased risk of future injury. The injections can be used to treat a variety of conditions, including sprains, strains, tendinitis, and chronic pain caused by conditions such as plantar fasciitis and ankle instability. In addition, prolotherapy can also help to improve joint function and reduce the risk of arthritis in the foot and ankle. The procedure is relatively quick and minimally invasive, making it a convenient option for those who wish to avoid more invasive treatments such as surgery. Prolotherapy is also often more cost-effective than other treatment options, and it has a low risk of side effects.

Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP) Therapy

Educational Information

PRP (platelet-rich plasma) injections are a minimally invasive procedure that is used to treat various foot and ankle conditions, such as plantar fasciitis, Achilles tendonitis, and sprains. The process begins with a small blood draw from the patient, which is then processed in a centrifuge to concentrate the platelets. The concentrated platelets are then mixed with a small amount of the patient's plasma and injected into the affected area.

The benefits of PRP injections in the foot and ankle include faster healing times, reduced pain, and improved function. This is because the concentrated platelets contain growth factors that promote healing and tissue regeneration. The procedure is also relatively quick, taking only about 30 minutes, and there is minimal downtime, with most patients able to return to their normal activities within a few days. Additionally, PRP injections are a safe and effective alternative to more invasive treatments, such as surgery.
