Treating Pain with the Remy class iv laser system

Is Laser Therapy Right For You?

Are you seeking relief from common painful foot conditions like sprains and strains,  plantar fasciitis, tendinitis, or tarsal tunnel syndrome without resorting to invasive procedures or relying on oral medications?

Consider a treatment package with Sonoran Foot & Ankle Institute's very own  REMY 30-Watt, Low-Level Laser Therapy (REMY Therapy) as a noninvasive, pain-free option that may help manage your symptoms.

Did you know...

REMY utilizes gentle laser light to stimulate cellular activity, reduce inflammation, and provide pain relief. Here are some key benefits of REMY therapy:

  • Noninvasive: REMY is a noninvasive treatment, meaning there are no incisions, injections, or surgical procedures involved. It's a comfortable and low-risk option for pain management.
  • Pain Relief: REMY can effectively reduce pain associated with various conditions, such as plantar fasciitis, Achilles tendinitis, Tarsal tunnel syndrome, and more. It works by modulating nerve activity and promoting the release of natural painkillers within your body.
  • Anti-Inflammatory: REMY is known for its anti-inflammatory properties. It can help reduce inflammation, a common factor in many painful conditions, leading to relief and improved comfort.
  • Enhanced Healing: By stimulating cellular activity and tissue repair, REMY may accelerate the natural healing process, allowing you to recover more quickly and regain mobility.
  • No Side Effects: Unlike some medications, REMY typically has no known side effects. It's a safe and well-tolerated option for managing pain and discomfort.
  • Customized Treatment: REMY can be tailored to your specific condition and needs, making it a versatile option that can be integrated into a comprehensive treatment plan.

It's important to acknowledge that the effectiveness of REMY therapies can differ among individuals, depending on factors such as the specific condition being treated and the treatment parameters. While REMY has displayed promise in addressing various medical conditions, individual responses may vary, and guaranteed results cannot be assured.

To determine if REMY treatment is appropriate for you and to create a tailored treatment plan suited to your unique circumstances, we recommend scheduling a consultation with one of the qualified healthcare professionals at Sonoran Foot & Ankle Institute. Experience the comfort and relief you deserve through the noninvasive approach offered by the REMY 30-Watt, Low-Level Laser Therapy System.

Treating Pain with the Remy class iv laser system

REMY Laser Pain Therapy

REMY laser pain therapy, also known as low-level laser therapy (LLLT) or cold laser therapy, is a medical treatment that uses a class IV, 30 watt red laser to reduce pain, inflammation, and promote tissue healing. While the exact mechanisms of how it works are not completely understood, several theories and effects have been proposed:

PhotoBioModulation

The primary theory behind orthopedic laser pain therapy is that the low-level laser light stimulates cellular activity through a process called photobiomodulation. This means that the photons (light particles) delivered by the laser interact with cells in the targeted area, particularly the mitochondria (the energy-producing centers of cells). This interaction is thought to increase the production of adenosine triphosphate (ATP), which is essential for cellular function and repair.

Reduced Inflammation

Laser therapy is believed to reduce inflammation by decreasing the production of pro-inflammatory molecules and promoting the release of anti-inflammatory cytokines. This can help alleviate pain associated with inflammation.

Pain Control

  •  Some studies suggest that laser therapy may activate nerve cells that can inhibit pain signals, essentially closing the "gate" that allows pain signals to reach the brain. This mechanism is similar to the gate control theory of pain.
  • In cases of NEUROPATHIC PAIN, laser therapy may influence nerve cells, potentially reducing pain and improving nerve function.
  • Some patients report feeling pain relief after laser therapy, which may be related to the release of endorphins, the body's natural painkillers.

Improved Blood Flow

Laser therapy may enhance blood circulation in the treated area. Improved blood flow can aid in the delivery of oxygen and nutrients to tissues, which can facilitate the healing process.

Stimulated Collagen Production

Laser therapy may stimulate the production of collagen, a protein crucial for tissue repair and regeneration. This effect can be beneficial for healing injured or damaged tissues.

How REMY Laser system helps common foot and ankle conditions

Sprains and Strains

  •  These injuries occur when the ligaments (sprains) or muscles and tendons (strains) in the foot and ankle are stretched or torn. They can happen due to accidents, sports activities, or simply rolling your ankle.
  • Laser Pain Therapy helps with sprains and strains through accelerating tissue repair through photobiomodulation and increased collagen production, improving blood flow, reducing muscle spasms, and reducing pain.

Fracture Healing

  •  Broken bones in the foot or ankle can cause significant pain. Stress fractures, which are small cracks in the bones often caused by overuse, are also common.
  • Laser Pain Therapy helps treat broken bones is through Pain Relief, Photobiomodulation allowing the tissues to heal more quickly, inflammation reduction.

Plantar Fasciitis

  •  This condition involves inflammation of the plantar fascia, a thick band of tissue that runs along the bottom of the foot. It typically causes heel pain, especially in the morning or after periods of rest.
  • Laser Pain Therapy helps treat plantar fasciitis by reducing pain and inflammation and accelerating healing.

Achilles' Tendinitis

  •  Inflammation of the Achilles tendon, which connects the calf muscles to the heel bone, can result in pain at the back of the ankle.
  • Laser Pain Therapy helps with Achilles’ Tendinitis through accelerating tissue repair through photobiomodulation and increased collagen production, improving blood flow, reducing muscle spasms, and reducing pain.

Arthritis

  • Osteoarthritis, rheumatoid arthritis, and other forms of arthritis can affect the joints in the foot and ankle, leading to pain, stiffness, and reduced mobility.
  • Laser Pain Therapy helps with arthritis by reducing pain, decreasing inflammation, photobiomodulation tissue repair, improving blood flow and reducing muscle tension.

Tendinitis

  • Inflammation of the tendons in the foot or ankle, such as the peroneal or posterior tibial tendons, can cause pain and discomfort.
  • Laser Pain Therapy helps with tendinitis through accelerating tissue repair through photobiomodulation, increased collagen production, improving blood flow, reducing muscle spasms, and reducing pain.

Bursitis

  • Inflammation of the fluid-filled sacs (bursae) that cushion and reduce friction in the joints can lead to pain, especially in the heel, great toe, and ankle joints.
  • Laser therapy helps with bursitis through its antiinflammatory effects, reducing pain, stimulating tissue repair, improving blood flow and relaxing adjacent muscles.

Tarsal Tunnel Syndrome

  • Similar to carpal tunnel syndrome in the wrist, tarsal tunnel syndrome involves compression of the tibial nerve as it passes through a tunnel in the ankle, leading to pain, numbness, and tingling.
  • Potential ways in which tarsal tunnel syndrome is relieved with laser therapy is through pain modulation, its antiinflammatory effects, tissue repair, improving blood flow and muscle relaxation.

Morton's Neuroma

  • This condition involves the thickening of tissue around a nerve leading to the toes, often causing sharp, burning pain in the ball of the foot.
  • Laser therapy can help with Morton’s Neuroma symptoms by decreasing pain and inflammation while stimulating tissue repair and blood flow.

Acute Injuries

  • Overuse Injuries and acute aches and pains are caused by a prolonged or abrupt increase in activity, referred to as “too much too soon” or “weekend warrior” injuries. Repetitive activities, such as running or walking long distances, can lead to overuse injuries like shin splints or stress fractures.
  • Laser therapy helps with these injuries by decreasing acute inflammation, relaxing muscles, modulating pain, and promoting tissue repair.
